Global Communication & Influence course completed at BASF Japan
Three professionals took the course over eight weeks, in four two-hour sessions. Delivery was hybrid: one participant in the meeting room, two joining by video from Yokkaichi. Asked who they would recommend it to, they said: people past beginner level who can already hold a discussion in English and want to grow as leaders; people who have never lived abroad but use English often; and people with a reasonable grounding who sit in English-language meetings.

English × inquiry begins at Denenchofu Gakuen Senior High School
A year-long class run entirely in English — two periods, nine sessions — started on 9 June. This year’s theme is Sustainable Urban Design.

Delivered 8 January 2026. A talk on what R&D work is actually like, on working globally, on there being no single right answer to a career, and on stepping into unfamiliar territory, learning from failure, and getting there anyway.

Tokyo Metropolitan Mukogaoka High School — entrepreneurship education
Delivered 12 December 2025. As one of the supporters of TiB Students, a Tokyo Metropolitan Government initiative, a two-hour lecture titled “Write your life’s story” — on stepping into the unfamiliar, on the knack of acquiring English that anyone can pick up, on purpose, and on learning from failure.

Kumamoto Municipal Hitsuyukan High School — science career education
Delivered 10–11 December 2025. Three lectures centered on liberal arts and science, offered as a prompt to rethink the split between the sciences and the humanities, and on why taking on what you do not yet know matters.

Delivered 6 November 2025. Advising five projects, in limited time, for around 30 second-year students working on themes in biology and chemistry: clarifying the objective, thinking and acting scientifically, and methods of critical thinking.

Nagasaki Empowerment 2024 — Leadership Program
Delivered 11 August 2024. From the students: “The way I see leadership changed, and I can look at things from more angles now.” (Year 10) “I looked at Japan, at the world and at the planet, and I really did change myself.” (Year 11) “From now on I want to work out what I can do for other people, and do it.” (Year 12)

Held in July 2024. From the students: “I got the confidence to say what I think in front of everyone.” (Grade 5) “Building something as a team was the best part.” (Year 8) From the parents: “She changed visibly in a single week. She has confidence in herself and now says she will practice as hard as it takes.” (parent, Grade 5)

Joso Gakuin Junior High School — career guidance
Delivered 29 July 2025. Toshi Iwata taught around 60 students in years 7 to 9 on turning what you want to do into something real, with dialogue and presentations on making what you love and what you are good at into value for other people.
